DATA.LOG//Entry-001 - AAC Units
//
Armoured Assault Core Units, or AAC Units for short, are mechanized armoured suits that vary in size and shape, generally assuming a humanoid shape. Colloquially referred to as "Mechs", AAC Units offer battlefield superiority by directly interfacing high-tech sensors and weapons into a Pilot's central nervous system. This allows the AAC Unit Pilot to pick up on even the most minute changes in any given scenario and react accordingly with an arsenal of tools built into the AAC Unit. Due to the direct interfacing with an AAC Unit, Pilots can experience physical pain and overstimulation from an AAC Unit receiving damage. A Handler is generally assigned to each Pilot, and remotely interfaces with some of the AAC Unit's sensors, in order to offload the mental and physical strain on Pilots. Handlers are able to remotely adjust the sensitivity of systems to prevent mental and physical strain, and to best aid their Pilots in their tasks.

AAC Unit types come in three different categories. L-AAC, short for "Light Armoured Assault Core", these units typically only stand at two times the height of the average person. They are typically used for recon and support roles, and can sometimes be seen supporting larger AAC Units in larger battles. M-AAC, short for "Medium Armoured Assault Core". These units carry the weaponry comparable to those found on tanks and other armoured vehicles, and are often seen on the front-lines of combat. H-AAC, short for "Heavy Armoured Assault Core". The panicle of AAC technology, these units feature extremely heavy weaponry, and are outfitted with thick and heavy armour. A force to be reckoned with, H-AAC Units are most often seen dominating the any battlefield they enter.

The introduction of AAC Units into combat changed interplanetary combat forever. Local flora and fauna pose little challenge to a sufficiently trained AAC Pilot aiding in colonisation, and a nation whose military contains even a handful of AAC Units is considered extremely powerful.

DATA.LOG//Entry-002 - On Handlers and their Pilots
//
When the first Armoured Assault Core (AAC) Units were deployed, use of a dedicated Handler was not common practice. Pilots were more likely to respond to their squad leader, and a Handler was only used in environments with intense weather and terrain. As AAC development progressed however, the role of a Handler became necessary. As more sensors and weaponry was added to AAC Units, the overwhelming physical and mental toll on their Pilots caused combat effectiveness to plumet. Handlers were assigned to Pilots to offload part of the mental strain through a remote connection interfacing the Handler's central nervous system with parts of the AAC Unit's sensors, and allowing them to re-assign systems and their sensitivity to best suit the situation. Handlers will most often interface with a AAC Unit's 360 degree visual, audio and seismic sensors to direct their Pilots and give them updates on the current situation.

The bond between Pilot and Handler must be constantly maintained. Pilots often experience extreme mental trauma from interfacing with an AAC, and it is part of a Handler's job to ensure their Pilot is taken care of. Pilots and Handlers will often be together after each mission debriefing eachother privately, and are encouraged to spend their recreational time together to strengthen their bond. A poor bond between a Handler and their Pilot can lead to poor performance during a mission, as an AAC Unit can refuse the connection to a Handler if the Pilot rejects it, consciously or subconsciously.

A Pilot may only ever have one Handler. As a Pilot spends more time interfacing with their AAC, and in turn interfacing with their Handler, they are highly likely to develop a preference to their Handler. If a Pilot is assigned a new Handler, the Pilot, and thus AAC Unit, may innately refuse connection to the new Handler. While it is uncommon, Handlers may have multiple pilots. Handlers may not interface with more than 3 AAC Units at any given time, any more could cause extreme mental and physical overload.

It is important to note that any form of romantic bond between a Pilot and their Handler is strictly forbidden. Punishment is immediate expulsion from the AAC program.

//
> Height: 5'7
> Hair: Short, brown
> Eyes: Dark blue
> Preferred AAC Interfacing Uniform: Olive green jumpsuit with white coolant stripes. rear-neck interfacing port.
//
> Entered training for AAC Unit Pilot at age 12 in 3016.
> Earned callsign "Caged Dog" during basic for her tendency to become extremely violent when backed into a corner.
> Graduated training in 3027.
> Assigned to and currently operating under Handler Lillian "Gentle Overlord" Faye in 3027.
//
> Affinity for larger AAC Units with close-range weapons, considered a "brawler" by her peers.
> Personality: Reserved around strangers, friendly and outgoing with other Pilots. Often seen aiding fellow Pilots during combat, "no one gets left behind" attitude. Can be seen in her free time fine-tuning her AAC Unit that she has named "Iron Puppy". Any and all AAC Unit upgrades/additions must be approved by Pilot-714 or she will find difficulty interfacing with the AAC Unit.

> Entered training for Admin and Strategy at age 16 in 3001.
> Earned callsign "Gentle Overlord" during her training for her unique method and proficiency of squad control tactics.
> Graduated training in 3014.
> Assigned to Tactics and Strategy Control in 3014.
> Reassigned to AAC Pilot Handler for Pilot-228 "Elusive Wolf" in 3020.
> Entered Service Leave after Pilot-228 "Elusive Wolf" went MIA in 3025.
> Assigned to and currently operating above Pilot-714 "Caged Dog" in 3027.
//
> Prefers "one on one" training simulations with Pilot-714 to hone her accuracy and ability to effectively avoid fire.
> Personality: Outgoing in her field. Prior to her assignment with Pilot-714, she was cold and calculated. Since assignment with Pilot-714, she has been spending more time bonding with Pilot-714 and working with technicians to improve AAC technology. Other Handlers find her methods unorthodox, however admit "The results do indeed speak for themselves".

DATA.LOG//Inquiry- Into L. Faye "Gentle Overlord" - 001 - STATUS: Resolved
//
Inquiry issued to Handler Lillian "Gentle Overlord" Faye over interfacing inconsistencies with Pilot-714 "Caged Dog" during Operation Grounded Strike.

At 0152 Pilot-714 experienced extreme levels of lower-body sensitivity following successful attacks on the opposing force's AAC Units.

Details: Upon landing shots with Particle-Infused Rotating Autocannon (P/RAC), Pilots will typically feel a light bump sensation in their right shoulder to indicate a successful hit. During Operation Grounded Strike, Pilot-714 "Caged Dog" (henceforth referred to as "714" for the remainder of this document) had the hit reaction adjusted to the lower body groin area by her Handler, Lillian "Gentle Overlord" Faye (henceforth referred to as "L. Faye" for the remainder of this document). After every successful elimination of opposing force AAC Unit, hit reaction sensitivity was adjusted to extreme levels. Returning from the operation, 714 exited her R11M-AAC covered in sweat and shaking, barely able to walk. L. Faye escorted 714 to her quarters for cleanup and debriefing.

Potential issues: Non-standard use of hit reaction location and sensitivity could lead to Pilot confusion. Mental and physical overstimulation could lead to Pilot shut-down.

L. Faye Statement: My dog- sorry, 714, has been having issues with accuracy of late. During recreational training exercises, I trained her to land her shots with increasing accuracy by adjusting the hit reaction to somewhere she can really feel it. Her accuracy has risen by 23% since our last field operation. The results speak for themself, really. Besides, with all the training we've done together lately, our interfacing link has strengthened significantly.

714 Statement: [714 Refused to provide a statement]

Operations Control Statement: Gentle Overlord's statement seems to be correct, 714's accuracy has significantly raised since her last field operation. So long as we see no long-term mental strain on 714 I see no reason to continue this inquiry. Gentle Overlord has requested that her training with 714 remains private, which has been approved.
